Dark Tourist (aka The Grief Tourist)
A provocative and chilling story of Jim Tahna, a graveyard shift security guard and avid grief tourist.  In pursuit of this bleak and complex hobby, Tahna travels to a small town in California to visit places of intense human suffering and tragedy, rooted in the life of a 1960's serial killer with whom he is obsessed.  His own fragile grip on reality slowly deteriorates as he encounters a sultry prostitute and a lonely waitress who threaten to unleash his darkest secrets and hidden desires.

Told in a gritty, hypnotic and hauntingly dark style, Krishnamma exposes us to a twisted labyrinth inside the mind of a man in free fall.  As Jim ultimately crumbles under the stress of his inner demons THE GRIEF TOURIST is brought to its brutal and shocking conclusion.

Shelagh M. Rowan-Legg - Twitch Film
"DARK TOURIST Disturbs In All The Right Ways" Why do we slow down to look at car accidents? Why do we put our hands in the moulded handprints of dead celebrities in Hollywood? Why are we obsessed with the lives of serial killers? There are the questions explored in Suri Krishnamma's chilling thriller Dark Tourist. With an incredible performance by Michael Cudlitz (from the TV show Southland), it is not an easy film to watch, but that is likely the intention. It is incredibly disturbing, not least because it asks the audience to question some of their own dark obsessions... A film such as this lives and dies with its central performance, and luckily Culditz is mesmerising and terrifying... A truly disturbing and accomplished film.

Mark Searby - Screen Jabber
Cudlitz could not be more perfect for this role, his ability to make you feel his pain even when he is doing unspeakable things is what shows a true actor at the top of his class... Credit must go to the writers and director for making this film as tough and unrelenting as possible, there won’t be many people that have the stomach to sit through the last thirty minutes without looking away. Yet that’s what makes this film stand out above all the other psychological horror films, it just doesn’t care if you like it or not instead it’s going to show it and you can’t do a damn thing about it. Dark Tourist is a modern day version of Taxi Driver, and continues in the same vein as last year’s remake of Maniac. It’s a psychological horror that has a constant sense of foreboding dread that never lets up until Tahna snaps, and then the film takes a dark, nasty turn that paralyses with you with fear. It’s been a long time since we have felt this beaten by a horror film.

Stuart Wright - Britflicks.com
UK director, Suri Krishnamma (known for lighter films and TV) shows brilliant understanding of the psychological thriller format. The pacing is careful and only serves to create real intrigue. The treatment of grim violence echoes Simon Rumley's Red, White and Blue at times - high impact, but not exploitative. There's a real sizzling twist which ups the stakes at just the right moment and clarifies his motives, but for the purposes of the review it shall remain a mystery. 4.5/5

John Vincent - The New York Times
I saw an early cut of this film and it's terrific! I've always admired Frank John Hughes as a talented actor with a vast amount of rage but who what of imagined he would be such a wonderful writer. He is. I've also seen the last film he wrote called "Leave" and that was wonderful too. I can't wait to see what he'll do next.
